    Termination.txt Format

This option is used to import employee termination information from an ASCII text file with each line representing one record.  The record can be up to 261 Characters long.  The fields are in “fixed positions”, in other words each field starts at a set character position and has a set maximum number of characters. There is no inter-field separation character – i.e. no commas in between fields but only a single space. Also, all fields do not have to hold information. Below is an example of a terminations.txt file containing Employee Termination information.

The information in the text file is laid out as follows:

    Termination Information

    Start Character

    Length

    Employee Number

    1

    10

    Employee ID Number

    12

    12

    Reason Code

    24

    6

    Reason Description

    30

    32

    Termination Date (yy/mm/dd)

    62

    10

The import will use the Employee ID number to match an employee.  If the ID number is not available, it will make a match using the employee number.
